Meet Shauna and Dave – Our First Guests!
We had the great fortune to meet Shauna Petrie and Dave Krook as our first guests of Boogie on Wheelchair Vans!
They are a delightful couple and allowed me to tag along for a full day adventure so that I could just make sure everything worked correctly, and of course to get some great photos of them using the van! Dave and Shauna were able to operate every feature they needed to use easily and Shauna felt very secure and comfortable.
We covered everything from sea level all the way up to the magnificent summit of Haleakala Crater. After picking them up at Lahaina harbor, Shauna and Dave were able to see beautiful Kaanapali Beach, taking in the views from there to Molokai and beyond. We then headed south, down the new and surprisingly scenic bypass out of Lahaina.
Shauna is a travel agent, so she wanted to see as much of Maui as possible in a day. We continued their adventure cruising through Maalaea Harbor on the way to Kihei for lunch at Coconut’s, one of Phil’s and my favorite local cafes. After lunch, we blasted down south so they could get a look at the lava flow down at Ahihi.
From there we went up into Iao Valley and cruised thru historic Wailuku town. It was then time to head for the summit of Haleakala, being blessed with one of the few evenings that there was visibility to see the entire landscape.
We were lucky to have great weather, without the constant rains we have had recently. It was so clear from the summit that we could easily see the Big Island of Hawaii in the distance.
These guys are real troopers, especially Shauna, who braved the ramp up the hill to the summit view, waving off my offer of long pants to cover her bare legs, whilst I was shivering inside my pajama pants and hoodie. Dave is a sweet and lovable fellow who is clearly devoted to his beautiful bride!
It was a wonderful day, and we feel very honored to have had this fantastic couple for our first guests. I also realized, that every new guest is a potential new friend, too.
We still have space for May and most importantly for the Memorial Day weekend, so if you are in need of special transportation, book today!
