Our Story
Phil and I met in Albuquerque, New Mexico, sometime after our parents bought houses across the street from each other. After over a decade of being neighbors, we went on one date, and have been together ever since.
In 1998, we decided we had been in New Mexico long enough, and Phil accepted a transfer to a position on Maui with the U.S. Geological Survey Water Resources Division. We uprooted our family (two sons) from our desert home and moved to what felt a bit like a foreign country, a beautiful little island in the middle of the ocean.
I soon found a job booking tours and activities for people visiting Maui and discovered a niche that I really enjoy. I am currently an Activity Specialist with Tom Barefoot’s Tours, and due to the increased demand for wheelchair accessible activities, I proposed opening our own business.
Since Phil retired back in 2012, he has had a lot of time on his hands, and he liked the idea, so the company was born!
Our Company Name
How did we come up with our company name? Well, last November, we adopted a little black puppy with giant feet from the Maui Humane Society. We named him Boogie, and he has become a big, black, goofy dog! He is our constant companion, best buddy, and now, the mascot of our company.
